Threats on the high seas: plastic

Abstract

Plastic, together with oil, is one of the ocean pollutants that receives more media coverage. It is most focused because it does not go unnoticed. It is impossible to ignore it. What do the so-called islands of plastic in the oceans really look like? Where are they? How are they harmful for the environment and for us humans? What can we do to stop this pollution and start to mend the planet?
