Abstract

The 1970s saw the growth of a movement of radical criticism of science that intertwined with the more general climate of political militancy. The author traces his approach to research in the field of the history of physics at that particular moment, characterized by a non-academic interest in the history of science, triggered by questions about the state and role of scientific disciplines and the sense of the profession of scientist.
