Abstract

The article shows, with data and graphs, some of the main aspects that make the energy transition a much more complex process than it may appear to an inexperienced observer. It is a matter of replacing over time, but with fairly certain and not remote deadlines, the fossil fuels that have been the planet's energy warehouse for two centuries, but also of efficiently replacing the systems of research, extraction and distribution of energy sources that we have used up to now. This gigantic transformation, which will involve the entire production system, exchanges, movements, up to the cooking of food and the air conditioning of living environments, will have inevitable economic costs, which will have to be distributed in a socially equitable manner, not only for ethical reasons but also to prevent uncontrollable social revolts from blocking any transformation hypothesis in the bud.
