Abstract

The photo portrays the activity of two fan bees going into action when, in summer, a hive begins to overheat and the wax could weaken or melt due to the excessive internal temperature. Ventilation may also be necessary when the nectar is present in such quantities as to prevent the normal air current inside the hive from expelling the water vapor that originates from the nectar itself.
