In 1967 Antonino Pagliaro gave an official lesson entitled «La poetica di Luigi Pirandello» to celebrate the centenary of the playwright’s birth, which is published here for the first time. Recent studies have highlighted the role played by the functionality of language in Antonino Pagliaro’s philosophy. The aim of this article is to highlight the creative function of language that Pagliaro illustrates through the Luigi Pirandello case study, by analyzing the themes of dialect, stylistics, and semantic criticism.
