Abstract

The four participants in the panel on my book offered very different critiques, so I responded to them separately. But, as will be clear from my responses, I have learned from all of them much about not only the arguments I made which attracted their criticism, but also about how to take forward those arguments in my future work. My first response to Luca Malagoli focuses on how best to interpret Hobbes. My responses to both Brian Bix and Giovanni Battista Ratti relate mainly to differences in methodology. Finally, I respond to Alejandro Daniel Calzetta’s challenge based on the problem of unjust law.
