The article seeks to explicate Lacan and Miller's references to mathematical logic, specifically analyzing the logicist, formalist perspective and the thought of Ludwig Wittgenstein. In particular, two issues will be examined: the relationship that Lacan establishes between logic and the real and the way wittgensteinian reflection on logical contradiction is used in psychoanalytic thought.
