Redefining deity in Athenian tragedy

The paper analyses the redefinition of deity in Greek tragedy by means of a comparison with the beginning of Greek philosophy. Aeschylean and Euripidean concepts of deity will be interpreted through, and framed within, the philosophical context of presocratic thinking, and mystery-cults.
