Questo saggio esamina la prima raccolta poetica di Fiona Perry, Alchemy (2020), dalla prospettiva della psicologia archetipica e della teoria dell’attaccamento. Il simbolismo alchemico, e nello specifico l’immaginario connesso alla nigredo, sarà qui utilizzato per esplorare in chiave poetica i concetti critici di cambiamento e transizione in quanto spazi pedagogici atti a implementare una comprensione più profonda dell’esistenza attraverso la memoria, il trauma, la perdita e il dislocamento. Questo processo di apprendimento attraverso la transizionalità è anche mediato da ricorrenze diffuse e dichiaratamente intensificate di molti oggetti di uso quotidiano, connotati in senso simbolico, mnestico e affettivo. Questi ultimi, come gli oggetti transizionali di Winnicott, rivestono il ruolo di organizzatori psichici e facilitatori dello sviluppo negli stadi più critici del percorso di crescita personale dell’istanza enunciatrice. Inoltre, essi aprono un terzo spazio transizionale esperienziale, dove il mundus imaginalis e l’impiego creativo e poetico del linguaggio verbale agiscono in modo terapeutico come intermediari metafisici nel dialogo tra coscienza e inconscio, materia e spirito, tempo ed eternità, mondano e sacro.
