Editorial Team

As regards the editorial production process, Synergies: A Journal of English Literatures and Cultures relies on four  distinct bodies: the Editors-in-chief, the Scientific committee, the Advisory board, and the Editorial board. The Editors-in-chief’s responsibility encompasses the whole editorial process, from the composition of the table of contents to the application of the criteria relating to high-quality contributions, rigorous review standards, transparency and revision, including the completeness of the information provided and the alignment with the journal's scientific objectives. As underlined in the Ethics Statement, the Editors-in-chief ensure that all parties involved in the review and production process comply with their respective obligations. Submitted papers are first assessed for suitability by the Editors-in-chief and, if receiving a preliminary positive evaluation, they will undergo a double-blind peer-review process by anonymous and specialised researchers, who may suggest any adjustment they deem necessary. All submitted papers are considered as confidential documents; potential contributors whose article manuscripts are not accepted (owing to low-quality standards, lack of orginality and other serious flaws) will be notified promptly. As regards accepted and peer-reviewed papers, which must not have been previously published or be assessed for publication elsewhere, the Editors-in-chief reserve the right to make final recommendations and copyedit them for the sake of clarity or style. In order to better accomplish these goals, the Editors-in-chief rely on the Editorial board’s support to monitor the transparency of the review process, the linguistic suitability of the submissions, and their adherence to the journal's editorial standards. The Editorial board’s members may not act as peer reviewers. Their responsibility involves overseeing the communication with the authors and ensuring the protection of their personal details as well as those of the peer reviewers. The role of the Scientific committee and of the Advisory board is to enhance the scientific prestige of the journal. Their members may however be asked to act as anonymous peer reviewers, in case they are specialists in one of the fields dealt with in the submitted papers.
