Résumé

This article begins with the presentation of some aspects of Cartesian space and then shows how Freud decentered this space by approaching it as a relationship between a point and a surface. This decentring opens the way to the construction of a geography of the unconscious which can be developed from Lacan’s three dimensions (RSI). From this geography, the article argues that the question asked by the subject when he leaves the imaginary and constitutes itself is Where am I? and not Who am I?, which has become the question and the answer of the indi- vidual and his identity discourse.
