The article reviews Federico Leoni’s book Metafisica dello specchio. Anish Kapoor e la poesia delle superfici (Marsilio 2023). Leoni explores Kapoor’s art by emphasizing the dimensions of the object, mirrored surfaces, emptiness, the fold, and pigments - particularly red and vantablack, to which the philosopher devotes some of his most intense pages. In continuity with an artistic research that Leoni has been pursuing for years, he shows us that with Kapoor the object becomes a Thing again. For his objects are “absolute, monumental and encompassing” things. Thus, the mirror artist leads art back to the absolute.
