Abstract

This note highlights the presence of a rocky arch in the scene depicting the myth of Tamyris blinding on a krater of southern Italy. This iconographic element is also present on other vases depicting the killing of Orpheus and may have had a symbolic role connected to the relationship of music with the afterlife.
