Membricidae
Keywords:
membricidaeAbstract
In this column, we present one zoological family group at a time, as an example of animal variety. The family is a taxonomic unit containing a set of species having certain characteristics in common, the result of evolution, which testify to the origin from a single progenitor. This "portrait" is dedicated to Membricidae: these are small insects, with bodies a few millimeters long, the largest up to 2 cm, which mainly inhabit the neo-tropical and afro-tropical regions, and are also represented in North America , with only three species in Europe, one of which is of North American origin.
