Population bomb?
Abstract
Following a period of strong growth after the Second World War, largely due to the demographic transition of the most populous countries, the human population is stabilizing at a level expected to be just over 10 billion individuals by the end of the century. The stabilization of population growth depends on the spread of well-being, which historically determines a decrease in the birth rate. The compatibility of the number of individuals with the carrying capacity of the planet will depend on many factors, not least the average level of access to resources, with decisions that should be made taking into account the ethical values developed during the evolution of our species.
