Abstract

In the center of the Marches, the precious stretch of high coast of Mount Conero interrupts the flat monotony of the sandy shores of the Adriatic. Since 1991 that of the Conero has been identified as a recovery area within the national framework law on protected natural areas (law 394/91) due to the importance and uniqueness of its marine biodiversity. Local institutions, which over the past thirty years have taken positions that are in contrast not only with the public interest but, at times, with their own electoral programmes, have so far been unable to follow up on the Ministry's proposals.
