Abstract

Clubbing rituals, a typical activity of contemporary youth subcultures, come to life, more and more often, inside abandoned quarries. These monumental places lose their original function thanks to the re-functionalization and transformation into performative contexts: real granite theatres, surrounded by nature which, thanks to the spectacular scenography obtained with 3D Mapping, become the venue for spectacular events capable of reactivating remote places of the Italian countryside.

Within the context of festivals based on the reuse of existing historical-monumental sites, those of NexTones, in Piedmont, and Vox Marmoris, in Tuscany, are two virtuous examples of how the transformation of an abandoned quarry site into a performative place can bring together the sustainable and circular intervention with the rites of contemporary artistic cultures linked to music.
