Abstract

The Andromache is a tragedy based on ἔρις, i.e. on the conflict between Andromache and Menelaus, between Menelaus and Peleus, and, especially, between Andromache and Hermione. The exclusiveness of the married relationship, that Hermione requires from her husband Neoptolemus, reminds of Medea’s intransigence, even if the last lives the relationship with Jason in a heroic and passionate dimension, completely alien to Andromache.
