Partiture del comico: i copioni di Aristofane sulla scena di oggi
Abstract
Contemporary productions of Aristophanes’ comedies deal, much more than productions of tragedies, with the complex issue of transforming the text into a script. Are Italian translations edited by major publishers stageable without relying on their exegetical equipment? What is the role of the translator and what is the role of the contemporary playwright? Can the latter be considered as a kind of translator too? This essay analyses the practices of translation, adaptation and rewriting in the contemporary theatre, that tries to communicate with the audience in an immediate and straightforward way. In particular, this essay focuses on some Italian productions that are used as case studies to investigate the dynamics of ‘present-oriented transferts’ and to stress the importance of the translation chosen for each production.
