Abstract

The essay examines the relationship between Tullio De Mauro’s general linguistic theories and his perspective on educational linguistics, highlighting how this link has been deep since his early work on the Italian linguistic
condition and the nature of linguistic activity. This close connection was constantly present in the topics of De Mauro’s courses at the University of Rome «La Sapienza».
