Thanks to the monumental publication project of the Akademie Ausgabe and to the numerous editions, Leibniz’s writings are now largely endowed with a dating and valuable critical apparatus that highlight all their intrinsic complexity and how themes intersect. However, scholars are still having to tidy up the great corpus of Leibnizian writings, and sometimes to bring to light unexpected, neglected, and forgotten documents. Starting from a brief ‘inventory’ of the presence of the Leibnizian Sprachforschung in biographies, manuals and study reviews, the purpose of the article is to discuss some current research lines that outline the renewed and expanded accessibility to sources and an increasingly mature awareness of the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to some of the main nuclei of Leibniz’s thought.
